Suad Bećirović
Professor Suad Bećirović was born on May 4, 1981 in
Freudenstadt, Germany. He completed his undergraduate
academic studies in economics at the University of
Reutlingen in Germany in 2004. He finished his master
thesis in the field of banking and finance at the
International University in Novi Pazar in 2007 by
defending the thesis entitled “The Islamic Financial
System”. He completed his doctoral studies in 2009 at
the International University in Novi Pazar by
defending the dissertation with the title “Interest –
a comparative study about the role of interest in
financial and monetary systems.” The doctoral
dissertation in the field of finance was written and
defended in English. In 2007, he started his teaching
career as teaching assistant at the International
University of Novi Pazar. Since 2009 he has been
teaching subjects in the field of finance at the
International University in Novi Pazar. In February
2014, he was appointed acting rector, and in October
2014, he was elected rector of the International
University in Novi Pazar. He is the author and
co-author of more than seventy scientific and
professional papers written in Bosnian, Serbian,
English and German, mostly published in international
journals. Special research interests are finance
(especially Islamic finance) and economic development.
He also took part in the implementation of numerous
research projects and is also very active in public
life. He speaks German and English fluently. He is
married and the father of two children.
