Prof. Dr. Shamima Abdul Rahman
Prof. Dr. Shamima Abdul Rahman is a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, at the University of Cyberjaya (UOC), Malaysia. She has over 20 years of academic and research experience and has served UOC in various capacities since 2005, rising from a Junior Lecturer to her current professorial role.
She earned her Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), with research expertise in drug discovery, natural products, and pharmacological evaluations. Her academic career began as a Graduate Research Assistant at UPM, followed by successive teaching and research appointments at Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (now UOC).
Throughout her tenure at UOC, Prof. Shamima has held multiple leadership and administrative roles — including Head of Department, Head of the Postgraduate Unit, Head of the Quality Unit — and currently serves as Director of the Graduate Research School (GRS), where she oversees the full postgraduate lifecycle, promotes interdisciplinary research, and ensures academic quality across all programs.
In addition to her academic duties, she is a certified Halal Trainer under JAKIM and actively contributes to research in Halal pharmaceuticals. She has supervised numerous postgraduate students, secured competitive research grants, published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, and presented at national and international conferences.
Prof. Dr. Shamima continues to advance pharmaceutical education and research, with particular focus on pharmacology, drug development, and Halal science.
