Dr. Ruba Al-Thawabeia

Dr. Ruba Al-Thawabeia is the Chairperson of SMIIC TC 2 on Halal Cosmetics Issues since March 2021. Her experience in the cosmetics sector, its standardization, and regulatory affairs extends for more than 12 years.

Dr. Ruba is a chemist who received all her degrees from the University of Jordan. Her MSc was in Bio-inorganic Chemistry, and her PhD was in Inorganic/Material Chemistry with pharmaceutical applications.

Currently, she is the Director of Verification, Notification and Anti-Counterfeiting Unit at the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO). Before that, she served as the Head of the Chemical Industries Division in the Standardization Department of the same organization.

Dr. Ruba has participated in numerous conferences as a speaker, including Halal conferences, and has published several papers in material sciences, environmental and pharmaceutical applications, and in the field of Halal Cosmetics.
