Dr. Nurulaina Saidin
Dr. Nurulaina Saidin is a Senior Lecturer at the Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies (ACIS), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, Malaysia. Her areas of expertise span Halal Policy, Halal Certification, Halal Standard Development and the Halal Supply Chain, with a particular research focus on halal animal feed and aquaculture feed standards.
She holds a PhD in Contemporary Islamic Studies from UiTM, a Master of Science in Microbial Biotechnology and a Bachelor of Islamic Studies and Applied Science (Biotechnology) from Universiti Malaya. Dr. Nurulaina serves as a member of the UiTM Research Ethics Committee and previously served as Secretary of the Centre for Halal Research, Training & Consultancy (HaRT) from 2022 to 2025. She is the registered holder of the patent Halal Standard for Aquaculture Production in Malaysia (LY2019004879).
She is the Project Leader of the FRGS-funded research Developing the Halal Risk Management Plan for Animal Feed Production in Malaysia (2024–2026) and has authored more than twenty indexed journal articles, multiple book chapters and conference proceedings on halal animal feed, halal certification standards and Shariah-compliant frameworks for the halal industry. Her work has been recognised with multiple international Gold Awards in innovation competitions, including for the Halal Aquaculture Feed Standard, and she received the Best Paper Award at the International Halal Science & Technology Conference (IHSC 2026) in Penang.
