Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hasani
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hasani is the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at the University of Sarajevo. He has been serving in this role since 2023. Prof. Hasani is a full professor of Sharia law (fiqh) at the same faculty. He completed his undergraduate studies in Islamic Theology in 1994, earned his master's degree in 2001, and his Ph.D. in 2011 at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, University of Sarajevo. His doctoral dissertation focused on the interpretation and application of Sharia norms concerning mixed marriages in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the period from 1930 to 1940.
Prof. Hasani has authored several original books, including "Hajj in the Contemporary Social Context: Sharia Challenges in the Time of Increasing Pilgrims." His academic and research interests encompass Sharia law (fiqh), Islamic rituals (ibadat), Sharia family law, and fatwas (religious decrees).
He has held various notable positions, including President of the Board of Directors of the Waqf Directorate (2009-2021), member of the Commission for Religious Freedom of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina (2012-2016), and member of the Disciplinary Commission of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina (2009-2013).
Prof. Hasani has been active in various organizational roles for seminars and conferences related to Islamic law and education. His research contributions and mentorship have significantly influenced the academic community, guiding numerous students through their master's and doctoral studies.
