Dr. Hfz. Mensur Malkić
Dr. Hfz. Mensur Malkić is the Director of the Directorate for Religious Affairs of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Born on May 11, 1970, in Dubrave Gornje near Živinice, he completed his education at the Gazi Husrev-beg Madrasa in 1988 and graduated from the Faculty of Islamic Sciences in Sarajevo in 1997.
He memorized the entire Quran (hifz) in 2001 under the Hafiz Commission of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dr. Malkić specialized in Islamic culture and civilization at Cairo University in 2008 and earned his master's degree in Islamic Sciences, specializing in Qira'at (Quranic recitation), from the Faculty of Islamic Sciences in Sarajevo in 2012. He also completed an intensive scientific course at the Islamic Studies Directorate of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Kuwait in 2014 and was certified as a judge for international Quranic competitions in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, in 2015.
He defended his doctoral dissertation on "Pausing and Starting Forms in Light of Authentic Qira'at Versions" at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences in Sarajevo on June 19, 2019, obtaining the title of Doctor of Islamic Sciences.
Dr. Malkić has served as an imam, khatib, and teacher in Tuzla, Bugojno, and Sarajevo from 1991 to 1998. Since 1998, he has been a professor of Qira'at at the Gazi Husrev-beg Madrasa. Since 2006, he has also been the first imam and khatib of the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque in Sarajevo.
His roles include membership in the Assembly of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina (2006-2010, 2010-2014, 2014-2018), membership and presidency of the Religious Affairs Commission of the Assembly (various terms), and member of the Religious Affairs Council of the Sarajevo Muftiate since 2015. He has been a member of the Hifz Commission of the Riyasat since 2001 and has mentored 30 hafizes (individuals who have memorized the Quran).
Dr. Malkić has won several international Quran recitation competitions, including first place at the European Quran Recitation Competition in Zagreb in 1996 and sixth place at the World Quran Recitation Competition in Cairo the same year. He has authored numerous articles and a book titled "Hafiz Ćamil Silajdžić – Life and Work."
