Dr. Manswab Mahsen Abdulrahman
Dr. Manswab Mahsen Abdulrahman is a Senior Lecturer at the Islamic University in Uganda. He earned his Ph.D. from the International Islamic University Malaysia in 2019, specialising in the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage (Fiqh & Usul al-Fiqh). He also holds a Master's in Shariah and Law from the University of Dongola, Sudan (2013), a Postgraduate Diploma in International Relations from the Sudan Academy of Science (2012), and a Bachelor's degree in Islamic Shariah from the International University of Africa, Khartoum (2010).
Dr. Manswab began his academic career in 2013 as a tutorial fellow at the College of Islamic Studies in Mombasa. Between 2015 and 2023 he taught various courses at Umma University's School of Shariah and Islamic Studies at both the Bachelor's and Master's levels, serving twice as Head of Department. In 2023 he was an adjunct professor at the United States International University–Africa, Kenya, and he was promoted to Senior Lecturer at the Islamic University in Uganda in August 2024.
He has contributed more than forty peer-reviewed articles, several of which are indexed in SCOPUS and Web of Science, and has authored four scholarly books including Studies in Islamic Theology and Principles, Muslim Family Law and Practices, Theory and Practice in Islamic Inheritance, and a Biography of the Prophet Mohammad (SAW). He has presented approximately eleven research papers at national and international conferences, and serves as chief editor, editorial board member, and peer reviewer for a number of refereed journals. His research focuses on Islamic family law, Islamic finance, African customary law, and Islamic theology, with a particular emphasis on promoting social justice and addressing contemporary societal issues.
