Dr. Farrah Payyadhah Binti Borhan
Dr. Farrah Payyadhah Binti Borhan is a Lecturer at the Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies (ACIS), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, where she has been serving since September 2021. She specialises in Halal Cosmetics and Halal Management, working at the intersection of applied sciences, Shariah-based governance and the halal industry.
She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Universiti Putra Malaysia and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biochemistry, also from Universiti Putra Malaysia. Her field of expertise sits within the Division of Advanced Experimental and Applied Science, with a focus on applied sciences, engineering and technologies.
Dr. Farrah is an active principal investigator and project member on multiple research grants, including work on Maqasid Shariah-based guidelines for aesthetic treatments in Malaysia, the development of a glossary of halal cosmetic ingredients from a Qur'anic perspective, and beautypreneurship empowerment programmes for B40 single mothers. She has authored and co-authored numerous indexed journal articles on halal cosmetics, halal executive management, halal supply chains, halal certification models and the application of artificial intelligence and neural networks in halal product development.
She supervises postgraduate research at both Master's and PhD levels on topics ranging from halal non-conformance mitigation in cosmetic micro-industries to Maqasid al-Shariah as a framework for contemporary halal cosmetics. Dr. Farrah is also an appointed consultant in halal medical device consultations, GMP consultation, and halal audit and competency panels. Her presentation at the Congress focuses on Halal Governance in Aesthetic Practice: A Maqasid Shariah-Based Framework for Quality and Ethical Compliance.
