Farah Lynn Amira Nor Zaidi
Farah Lynn Amira Nor Zaidi is a PhD candidate in Halal Industry at the International Institute for Halal Research and Training (INHART), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), and a Certified Halal Executive (JAKIM). Her doctoral research, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aizat Jamaludin, examines the dynamics of halal food consumption in Australia, with a particular focus on Muslim consumer behaviour and the structural challenges of the halal market in non-Muslim contexts.
She completed her Master in Halal Industry Management at IIUM in 2023, where she was recognised as Best Student of the Master's Programme at the 39th IIUM Convocation. Her Master's thesis investigated the perception of counterfeit cosmetics among Muslim consumers in Putrajaya and led to the development of a Halal Cosmetic Awareness Module aimed at strengthening understanding of Shariah-compliant ingredients, manufacturing processes and certification among young consumers. She holds a Bachelor of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage (Arabic Language and Literature, Honours) with a minor in Laws from IIUM.
Her published research includes peer-reviewed articles in the Malaysian Journal of Syariah and Law, the Malaysian Journal of Consumers and Family Economics and the Journal of Halal Industry & Services, covering Muslim consumer perceptions of counterfeit cosmetics and the development of halal cosmetic awareness modules. She has also collaborated with halal agencies and businesses in Australia to identify barriers and opportunities for the halal industry abroad.
At the 4th European Halal Congress, she presents on When Access is Restricted: Understanding Interview Rejection by Halal Certification Agencies in Australia.
