Çağrı Cankurtaran
Çağrı Cankurtaran is a Specialist at the General Secretariat of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC). He was born in Ankara in 1982 and graduated from the Department of Food Engineering at Ege University in 2004. He obtained his M.A. degree in Management in 2007 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Business Administration, focusing on digital transformation and firm performance in the manufacturing and food sector.
He began his career in the food industry as Production and Quality Control Manager in a confectionery company, and later served as a Food Controller / Food Inspector at the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock of the Republic of Türkiye. After joining the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) in 2006, he worked as an auditor and inspector on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 22000, as well as a Halal auditor and assessor.
Since 2011, he has been working at the SMIIC General Secretariat and serves as Secretary of SMIIC/CCA, under which key conformity assessment standards such as OIC/SMIIC 2 and 3 were developed. He is also actively involved in SMIIC's international cooperation with UNIDO, ISO, ARSO, GSO and OIC institutions, and has played a pioneering role in technical projects with COMCEC and COMSTECH.
