Dr. Ateeq-ur-Rehman Memon
Dr. Ateeq-ur-Rehman Memon is the Director General of the Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) at the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of Pakistan. He holds an M.Phil in Analytical Chemistry and an M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry (1st Class, 1st Position) from the University of Sindh, along with an M.Ed. from SAL University Khairpur. He was awarded a Silver Medal for his academic achievements.
With more than 30 years of diversified experience in administration, quality, standardization, and research & development, Dr. Memon has been instrumental in establishing PNAC's quality system and in achieving Mutual Recognition Arrangements with APAC and ILAC/IAF in accordance with ISO/IEC 17011. He previously served as Deputy Director General (2020–2025) and held the look-after charge of Director General from 2019 to 2020 before being appointed DG in July 2025.
Dr. Memon is a Lead Peer Evaluator of APAC and a qualified Lead/Team Assessor for a wide range of international standards including ISO 15189, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17020, ISO/IEC 17021, ISO/IEC 17024, ISO/IEC 17043, ISO/IEC 17065, ISO 22000 and the SMIIC/OIC Halal standards. He is a member of the Pakistan National Standard Committee on Halal, the SMIIC Standard Committee on Halal, and the International Forum for Halal Accreditation Bodies (IFHAB), as well as national committees on healthcare standards.
He has contributed to laboratory and hospital accreditation development across Pakistan and internationally, conducted peer evaluations on behalf of APAC in countries including Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sri Lanka, Japan and Vietnam, and has authored or co-authored 19 international publications and a book chapter on Six Sigma and Quality Management.
