Assit. Prof. Dr. Aldin Dugonjić
Aldin Dugonjić's journey in the field of halal standards and certification is marked by extensive education, hands-on experience, and significant contributions to the industry. Graduating from the University of Applied Health Sciences, Zagreb, with a focus on "Halal standards and links with other standards," he embarked on a path dedicated to understanding and implementing halal practices.
His involvement in establishing a systematic approach to halal certification in Croatia began early, dating back to 2007 when he became a certified auditor for halal quality. Over the years, he expanded his expertise, becoming a consultant for halal quality in 2009 and assuming various roles at the Center for Halal Quality Certification, Croatia, including secretary, trainer, auditor, and ultimately CEO from 2012 to 2023.
Dugonjić's contributions extend beyond his roles within organizations. He has authored numerous papers on halal-related topics, presenting them at national and international conferences. His involvement in standardization efforts is evident through his membership in the Croatian Standards Institute and participation in the CEN/BT Working Group 212 on Halal Food.
As a recognized expert in quality management systems, Dugonjić holds Lead Auditor certifications for ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 22000. His influence in the Islamic economy was acknowledged with his inclusion in the ISLAMICA 500: Global Leaders of the Islamic Economy in 2017 and 2018.
Dugonjić's commitment to promoting halal extends to various platforms, including his role as president of the World Halal Day Croatia organizational committee and director of the Halal Business Forum. His dedication to advancing the understanding and implementation of halal practices led to the publication of his book "Halal – standards made for humankind."
His academic achievements culminated in obtaining a Ph.D. title from the International University of Novi Pazar in October 2018, focusing on the "Halal industry's contribution to strengthening the economy, with a special focus on the food industry and tourism." In May 2021, Dugonjić's expertise was further acknowledged with his membership in the International Academy of Science and Arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mr. Dugonjić was appointed as a Chief Development Officer at The Bridge in January 2024.
